The Barns at Lodge Farm Wedding Photographer – Caroline & Jamie’s Perfect Summer Wedding
As an Essex documentary wedding photographer with over 15 years of experience, I’ve photographed many incredible celebrations at The Barns at Lodge Farm — and Caroline and Jamie’s perfect summer wedding was everything couples dream of when they choose this stunning countryside venue. If you’re searching for a The Barns at Lodge Farm wedding photographer, this day shows exactly why I love working here so often.
A Hot Summer Ceremony at The Barns at Lodge Farm
It was one of those beautifully hot Essex summer days where the sun doesn’t hold back. Guests could be seen fanning themselves throughout the ceremony, sunglasses perched stylishly, programmes doubling as makeshift cooling devices.
The Barns at Lodge Farm is ideal for relaxed, outdoor-feel weddings, and the heat only added to the laid-back atmosphere. As a documentary wedding photographer in Essex, these natural, unscripted moments — flushed cheeks, laughter, wind catching dresses — are what truly tell the story of a wedding day.
Caroline’s Bold Bridal Style & Vibrant Colour Palette
Caroline completely shrugged off tradition in the best possible way. Instead of classic white, she wore bright green and paired it with a bold red lip — and it looked incredible against the rustic backdrop of the barns.
Her bridesmaids wore shades of pink and purple, creating a joyful, fashion-forward colour palette that ran seamlessly throughout the entire wedding design. The décor at The Barns at Lodge Farm reflected every colour choice: a gold sequin backdrop framed the ceremony space, a gold sequin welcome sign shimmered in the sunlight, and playful fringing and billowing signage added movement and personality.
From a documentary wedding photography perspective, bold styling like this photographs beautifully against the neutral tones of the barns and Essex countryside.
BBQ in the Courtyard During Golden Hour
One of the many reasons I love being a regular The Barns at Lodge Farm wedding photographer is the way the light falls over the courtyard in the evening. Caroline and Jamie chose relaxed BBQ food served outside, and as golden hour began, guests gathered with plates in hand, drinks flowing, and laughter echoing around the farm buildings.
The warm glow over the surrounding fields created the most perfect sunset backdrop. We slipped away for a few quiet portraits just as the sky softened — the rolling Essex countryside doing what it does best. After 15 years of photographing weddings, I still get excited about sunsets like this.
A Busy Dance Floor Despite the Summer Heat
Even though the temperature barely dropped, the dance floor was packed. Heels were kicked off, sleeves rolled up, and the energy stayed high all evening. The beauty of a summer wedding at The Barns at Lodge Farm is that guests can move easily between indoor and outdoor spaces, keeping the atmosphere relaxed but lively.
Caroline and Jamie’s wedding was vibrant, bold and unapologetically fun — the perfect example of how unique a summer wedding at The Barns at Lodge Farm Epping can be.
