Kate & Nick – a traditional with a modern twist, Stratford Upon Avon wedding
Kate and Nick’s big day was my second in the glorious town of Stratford-Upon-Avon, birthplace of Shakespeare, and quintessentially English! The couple met on a blind date and 17 months, one house and a very cute puppy later, they got wed.
Fitting for the location, their day was styled traditionally, with the boys in top hats and tails and Kate in an exquisite Charlotte Balbier lace dress. They’d stamped a modern twist on the proceedings though, with the bridesmaids wearing mismatched dresses, Kate herself donning a stunning pair of bright blue Manolo Blank’s and a very beautiful, contemporary wedding cake.
Kate and the girls prepped at home and the house was full of noise and laughter all morning (mostly provided by her very sweet nephew!) and Nick and the boys enjoyed a pre-wedding drink at the local pub. The ceremony took place at All Saint’s Church, Luddington, rumoured to be the church that Shakespeare himself married Anne Hathaway, a really lovely, intimate little church right on the River Avon. The highlight of the service had to be when the children from Kate’s class (she’s a teacher), surprised everyone by coming down the isle singing beautifully for the new Mr & Mrs!
Onto the reception! We all headed off to Stratford-Upon-Avon Town Hall which was elegantly be-decked with stunning florals! Kate and Nick wanted to head to the river for some Portraits, this entailed a walk through the town centre, perfect for me, I love a bit of street photography, and for the rest of the shoppers, who all whopped and applauded as we walked by! We stopped at the RSC Theatre, because, it’d be rude not to(!) and then headed into the neighbouring park.
We were treated to a fabulous three course meal, followed by some very funny speeches, before everybody hit the dance floor!
Kate and Nick, we were made to feel so welcome by you and your family and friends, and we had such a fabulous time shooting your wonderful wedding. We wish you every happiness in your lives together, Congratulations!
