Braintree Family Photo Shoot with 6 month old

If you’re looking for a Braintree family photographer, this recent outdoor shoot is a perfect example of how relaxed, natural family photos can look — especially with a 6-month-old baby.
This session took place in one of Braintree’s local parks on a warm August afternoon, with soft light, plenty of space, and a little one who had just reached that lovely milestone of sitting up.
A Braintree Family Photoshoot with a Familiar Faces
One of the nicest parts of this shoot was the connection behind it.
I’d previously photographed mum and dad’s wedding, and have also spent time capturing moments with their wider family — so this session felt like catching up with old friends rather than meeting for the first time.
That familiarity really helps create a relaxed atmosphere, which is exactly what I aim for as a Braintree family photographer. No pressure, no awkward posing — just letting things unfold naturally.
Why 6 Months Is the Perfect Age for Baby Photos
Six months is such a special stage to capture.
At this age:
- Babies can often sit up confidently
- They’re full of expressions and personality
- They’re curious about everything around them
This little one was the perfect example — happy, engaged, and completely content taking it all in.
If you’re considering booking a Braintree family photoshoot, this stage is ideal for capturing those early milestones without the unpredictability of toddler life.
A Relaxed Outdoor Family Photoshoot in Braintree
Choosing an outdoor location for this session made such a difference.
Local parks in Braintree offer:
- Beautiful natural backdrops
- Soft, flattering light
- Space for little ones to move freely
Rather than setting up stiff poses, we kept everything very natural — sitting in the grass, little interactions between mum, dad, and baby, and lots of moments in between.
This is always my approach as a relaxed Braintree family photographer — creating space for real moments rather than directing every second.
Natural Family Photography That Feels Like You
For me, family photography isn’t about perfect smiles or everyone looking at the camera.
It’s about:
- the way your baby looks at you
- the small interactions you don’t even realise are happening
- the feeling of that stage of life
That’s what makes these photos so meaningful in the years to come.
Working with families I’ve photographed before makes this even more special — it’s about documenting your story as it grows, not just a single moment in time.
What to Expect from a Braintree Family Photoshoot
If you’re booking a Braintree family photographer, it’s completely normal to feel a little unsure about how it will all work — especially with a baby.
The good news is, sessions are always led by your little one. We’ll book your session at a time in the day that’s good for your baby – after a nap and with a full belly is best. We take things at their pace, if they need a snack, cuddles, or a break if needed. There’s no pressure to get everything “perfect”.
Instead, I gently guide where needed, while leaving space for natural interactions to happen. That’s how we create relaxed, genuine images that reflect your family as you are — capturing moments you’ll want to hold onto for years to come.
