An Intimate early Autumn Wedding at The Lion Inn, Boreham – A Day Full of Love, Family and Quiet Elegance

Some weddings stay with you, long after the last photo is edited—and this beautiful early autumn day at The Lion Inn in Boreham was absolutely one of them.

Originally planned for 2020, this couple’s big celebration was postponed, like so many, due to the pandemic. But as life so often does, it took a different, wonderful turn. They went on to welcome two beautiful little boys into their world and, when the time felt right, decided to celebrate their love and marriage with a more intimate gathering—one that was quietly elegant, deeply personal, and incredibly moving.

The Lion Inn provided the perfect setting: warm autumn light, cosy spaces, and just the right balance of relaxed and refined. The guest list was small—close family and a few dear friends—which made the atmosphere feel all the more special. It wasn’t about the fanfare; it was about what really mattered.

One of the most emotional parts of the day was knowing that some of the groom’s family who couldn’t make it were watching on from New Zealand via video link. While they couldn’t be there in person, their presence was deeply felt. A powerful reminder that love, connection, and celebration can transcend distance and time zones.

What made the day even more meaningful for me was the fact I’ve had the pleasure of photographing several members of this lovely family over the years. To be trusted again, this time for such a heartfelt and significant milestone, was a true honour.

This wedding was also the perfect example of how much can be captured in just a half-day of coverage. From relaxed getting-ready moments and the emotional ceremony, to beautiful portraits with the couple and their boys, and the quiet in-between moments that are so full of meaning—there’s still room for story, depth, and beauty in a shorter wedding day.

If you’re planning a smaller celebration or want to focus your photography around the key parts of the day, half-day coverage could be ideal. It’s not about having “less”—it’s about capturing what matters most, beautifully and authentically.
