As an Essex and Hertfordshire documentary wedding photographer, South Farm is one of those venues that never fails to deliver something unforgettable. Chloe and Billy’s summer wedding at South Farm Weddings was vibrant, joyful and bursting with personality — a true celebration of colour, connection and doing things their own way.
From the moment I arrived, it was clear this was going to be one of those days where everything came together. Incredible styling, amazing energy, thoughtful details and a couple who were completely present and ready to enjoy every second.
A Colourful Boho Wedding at South Farm
Chloe and Billy fully embraced the boho spirit that South Farm does so beautifully. Their colour palette was unapologetically bold — bright oranges and blues layered throughout the day, creating a look that felt playful, summery and effortlessly cool.
Chloe wore a gorgeous boho lace wedding gown, paired with a flower crown that couldn’t have suited her more. It was relaxed, romantic and perfectly in tune with the countryside setting. Billy’s look complemented the vibe effortlessly, striking that perfect balance between laid-back and polished.
An Outdoor Ceremony by the Lake
One of my favourite things about South Farm weddings is the option for outdoor ceremonies, and Chloe and Billy’s celebrant-led ceremony by the lake was an absolute highlight. Personal, meaningful and full of warmth, it reflected their story beautifully.
Celebrant-led ceremonies are always a joy to photograph — they allow couples to truly express who they are, and the emotion that comes with that is incredibly powerful. With the water behind them and their guests gathered close, it felt intimate, heartfelt and completely them.
Disco Balls, Tuk-Tuks and Piglets (Yes, Really)
This wedding was packed with personality. Disco balls added sparkle and fun, guests arrived and moved around in a Tuk-Tuk, and yes — there were shoe-nibbling piglets (South Farm never disappoints).
South Farm is brilliant for couples who want their wedding to feel like an experience, not just a day. Chloe and Billy curated an atmosphere that felt immersive, joyful and a little bit magical, helped along by a plethora of incredible wedding suppliers who all brought their A-game.
Essex & Herts Documentary Wedding Photography at South Farm
From a documentary photography perspective, South Farm is a dream. Its layout encourages guests to explore, mingle and relax, which naturally creates genuine moments and real emotion. Chloe and Billy trusted me to document their day as it unfolded — the laughter, the chaos, the quiet moments and everything in between.
This is where documentary wedding photography really shines: capturing the feel of the day, not just how it looked.
Sunset Light and an Electric Dance Floor
As the evening rolled in, we were treated to a beautiful summer sunset, bathing the farm in warm, golden light. We slipped away briefly for relaxed portraits — nothing forced, just a chance for Chloe and Billy to take it all in together.
And then came the party. The dance floor was excellent — full from the first song, packed with energy and pure joy. One of those nights where the music, the people and the mood all align perfectly.
