A Beautiful Ely Cathedral Wedding with a Relaxed Garden Reception at The Old Fire Engine House
Planning a wedding can be both exhilarating and daunting, especially if you’re envisioning an elegant day full of unique personal touches. Today, I’m thrilled to share a beautiful example of how a wedding day can be unforgettable, even with shorter coverage. Capturing this Ely Cathedral wedding with a relaxed garden reception at The Old Fire Engine House truly highlighted what’s possible in just a few hours.
Bridal prep at Rebecca’s family home.
The day began at Rebecca’s family home, where she prepared for her big day surrounded by loved ones. The atmosphere was filled with love, excitement, and anticipation and made extra special by her two gorgeous pugs entertaining the children! Her dad was especially proud, as he’d prepared his classic car, meticulously kept—to drive his daughter to the cathedral. This sweet, meaningful touch made for memorable photographs that really told the story of the day’s beginning.
The Ceremony at Ely Cathedral
There’s something utterly majestic about a wedding at Ely Cathedral. Known for its stunning architecture, the cathedral is a dream for any Cambridgeshire wedding photographer, offering unique spaces and lighting that create timeless, striking photos. The bride and groom shared their vows in this iconic setting, and I was able to capture beautiful portraits of them within the cathedral after the ceremony. This was the second wedding Ive shot at Ely and was pinching myself just as much as the first time!
A Relaxed Garden Reception at The Old Fire Engine House
The celebration continued over the road at The Old Fire Engine House, where the couple hosted a relaxed garden reception. Guests were greeted with a special touch—a custom newspaper filled with fun facts and stories about the bride and groom, making each guest feel part of their unique story. This personal touch delighted everyone and gave them something to enjoy as they mingled and relaxed in the gardens. The garden reception featured relaxed, heartfelt speeches that celebrated the couple’s journey together, creating another opportunity for beautiful, candid photos. Even with a shorter day of coverage, there was plenty of time to capture these touching moments that brought everyone together. As a Cambridgeshire wedding photographer, I love documenting these honest, emotional interactions that couples will treasure forever.
Rebecca & David chose a delicate, cornflower-blue cake adorned with floral details, which looked stunning in the garden setting. And I finished up with a shot of Rebecca and David cutting their cake as their guests prepared to sit for an intimate dinner.
Flexible, Shorter Coverage Wedding Photography
This wedding is a wonderful example of how much can be captured, even with shorter day coverage. With flexible wedding packages, I offer couples the freedom to tailor the photography to fit their specific day, whether they’re planning a grand celebration or a more intimate gathering like this one. By focusing on the core events and meaningful details, shorter coverage still delivers a full story of the day without missing the moments that matter most.
Planning a wedding can mean juggling many details, but knowing you have a Cambridgeshire wedding photographer ready to customise a package just for you brings peace of mind. If you’re planning a wedding at Ely Cathedral or any beautiful spot across Cambridgeshire, let’s chat about how we can capture your day with flexibility and creativity. Whether it’s a full day or just a few hours, we can make every moment count.
