The very scary idea of not being able to shoot one (or more!) or my weddings this year if I caught Covid was constantly at the forefront of my mind. However, our industry has always been incredibly supportive to each other and I’ve been lucky enough to have build a strong and awesome team around me so even before Covid was a thing, having a contingency plan is a must for a wedding photographer. That’s why when I heard Alex & Jame’s had been devastated to hear that their original photographer had tested positive for Covid the week leading up to their wedding, I said I’d jump in and do it. It was pure luck none of my other clients had rescheduled to their date so I was free!
And what a wedding it was! Alex & James met at Parklife Festival in 2013 and spent the next few years enjoying themselves at live gigs and other festivals before finally managing to get tickets for the motherland – Glastonbury! James took the opportunity to pop the question whilst they were there! With that in mind and the gorgeous seaside escape of Southwold being their favourite London escape, Henham seemed like the perfect venue with it hosting Lattitude every year!
What you’ll see is all done by Alex & James themselves with help from their planner Nat Webber, and the band (who were incredible!), Das Brass, were at Glastonbury when they got engaged so that was a wonderful tie in! Anyway, this was a day of utter perfection, the weather was awesome with an utterly divine sunset, the speeches were heartfelt and hilarious and the party atmosphere was in full flow all day. Such a joy to be able to help a fellow photographer and to have been able to share in Alex & James’s brilliant day!
